The Tour Music Fest National Final - Malta Edition was held as the Deporres Cultural Center and the winners that will be representing Malta for the European Final in Italy (Rome) on December 1 have been announced.
July 22 at the Deporres Cultural Center in Sliema was an event full of music and music education, where more than 80 Maltese artists expressed their talent and their artistic abilities in front of both a live audience and Tour Music Fest’s European judging panel.
The young performers, divided into three separate categories, Singers, Singer-songwriters and Junior Singers, all performed on stage putting on an amazing show, creating an special atmosphere of musical sharing and the will to grow artistically, eliminating any sense of competition.
That is exactly what Tour Music Fest’s mission is, to take advantage of the competition to give young artists the chance to grow, to compare themselves to one another, and to share their passion. A new way of creating a competition, probably more useful for an emerging artist, where the collaboration amongst artists alone will help them reach their goals, excellence and artistic quality.
At the end of the day the winners for each category were announced, and they will be representing Malta during the European Final that will held in Rome on December 1, performing for our international judging panel with Mogol, one of Italy’s most important lyricists, along with Sony Music and Berklee College of Music.
Nicole Marie Cutajar, 24 years old from Pembroke won for the Singer category by convincing the judging panel with her enchanting voice and emotional interpretation of “Black Coffee”, the next to receive a ticket for Rome was the 24 year old Singer-songwriter Maryse Lorraine from Kalkara, with her song entitled “Color you Now” performed on piano, and last Demi Galea, the 14 year old junior singer that won from La Valletta that performed “Say Something”.
These three Maltese artists will be competing with artists from all over Europe hoping to win a €10,000 contract, an international tour and a scholarship for a course at Berklee – College of Music.
