Live feedback session

Preparation guide for the artist.

HOW TO GET THE MOST OUT OF YOUR ONLINE FEEDBACK SESSION

The Online Feedback Sessions are the second component of the Tour Music Fest Smart Auditions. These sessions entail personalized artistic counseling offered by the TMF Judging Panel to all artists eligible for the Live Auditions.

It is important to note that the Online Feedback Session is not an audition but a counseling session. This means that you will not be judged during this session. Our aim is to provide this feedback session to assist you in getting well-prepared for your Live Audition performance and to enhance your skills as an artist.

To assist you in organizing for your session and to ensure you obtain the most benefit, we have created a guide.

1. PREPARE YOUR ARTISTIC MATERIAL

During your Online Feedback Session your coach may ask you to sing something a cappella or with the backing track, to do some vocal training exercizes or to listen to the demo you submitted.

HOW TO GET READY.. HERE ARE SOME TIPS FOR YOU!

Warm up your voice before your session;

Prepare the song you sent in for evaluation and and another one as a backup;

 Think of the questions you would like to ask your Coach, not just related to the Live Audition but also for your overall artistic journey.

To enhance your experience, we recommend preparing the following material on your computer:

Audio or video file of the demo submitted for evaluation;

Lyrics and backing tracks, or alternatively prepare your instrument (piano, guitar, ukelele, etc.) and connect it to your computer.

If you have audio equipment suitable for live streaming such as a microphone, headphones, and sound card, it would be best to use them to enhance your session. If you do not have this equipment, we recommend using headphones to ensure good audio quality during your session.

2. CHOOSE YOUR ROOM

We recommend selecting a quiet and private room for your Online Feedback Session, where you can be sure you won’t be disturbed. Opt for a well-lit space or utilize an LED light to enhance the illumination.

Please note that a parent or guardian must be present for the underage artists.

3. CHOOSE YOUR DEVICE

We suggest you use a computer (laptop, desktop, Mac or pc) with an integrated sound card. You can also follow your session on a tablet or smartphone but the quality of the session would be inferior, therefore we do not advise it.

4. DO A SPEED TEST

To ensure an optimal Online Feedback Session, we suggest using a Fiber or ADSL connection. This will ensure smoother video and audio quality.

The Zoom platform, which we will be using for the video call, requires a minimum download speed of 3 Mbps and an upload speed of 1 Mbps.

For the best performance, we recommend an average download speed of 10 Mbps and an upload speed of 2 Mbps.

In order to check the speed of your internet connection, do a speed test on this website: https://www.speedtest.net/. Don’t forget to do this test in the same room you plan of doing your Feedback Session.

We suggest using connecting with an ethernet cable directly into your computer to guarantee a connection stability. If that is not possible, you can connect via wifi.

5. SIGN UP TO ZOOM

In order to connect with the Tour Music Fest coaches you must install the Zoom software. On this site https://zoom.us you will find Resources on menu. Click on “Download Zoom Client” and follow the instructions.

In order to use the software you must sign up to zoom. Click on “Sign up Free” that you can find on the top right hand side of the website and fill in all of the requested fields.

Don’t forget to make sure that the name and last name you put on the Zoom are the same used for your Tour Music Fest registration.

Once you’ve signed up you can start up the Zoom software and put in your credentials.

6. SET UP ZOOM AUDIO

Choose the audio equipment you will be using for you speaker and microphone, eliminate the check on “automatically adjust microphone volume”. In the Audio Profile select “Original audio for musicians”, “High-fidelity music mode” and “ Echo cancellation”.

Now you should be ready! To make sure your audio is ok, you can test your audio with Zoom at this link https://ww.zoom.us/test
